This was my first GD show as a Freshman at SUNY Oneonta. I did not fully appreciate this concert musically, anyway until I obtained tapes of it in 1985. I knew a taper who made me a copy from his master. IMHO, Audience tapes are superior to Soundboards in general. I've seen some criticisms of this concert, but you really need to hear the audience tape in full ambience. I attended many GD concerts through the end in 1995 and have listened to countless tapes and I daresay this is one of there best shows of their last 13 years. Every song played with the exception of Lost Sailor => Saint was the best version I have heard from this point in the band's career forward. Please do yourself a favor and find a high-quality audience tape and play it back on the right equipment (meaning, equipment that plays back the full-dynamic range). Not something you will get on a Soundboard. FIVE STARS!!!!!!!!

THIS SPRING TOUR IF THE BOY'S PLAYED IN A CITY FOR 2 NITES 1 WAS GONNA BE A HELP ON THE WAY>SLIPKNOT>FRANKLIN'S TOWER.HAMPTON STARTED IT WITH A KILLER VERSION.THIS NITE WAS UP THERE,BUT I THINK BRENDAN BYRNE'S HELP ON THE WAY WAS THE HOTTEST OF THE EAST COAST SHOWS. 4/12/83 WAS VERY ENERGETIC START TO END ALL SONGS WERE WELL PLAYED ALSO IT WAS A SMALLER PLACE FOR 1983.THICK PURPLE GEL'S GOT US THRU THE SHOW AND BACK TO BUCKS COUNTY PA. FOR SCHOOL THE NEXT MORNING WITH ABOUT TIME 4 A SHOWER AND MORNING FAT ONE.WE CAUGHT MOST OF THESE SHOW'S THE BAND WAS IN GOOD SPIRIT'S.I THINK IT WAS LIKE A 3 VIAL TOUR.PARADISE WAITS ON THE CREST OF A WAVE.'/;[]]]]]]][=--0,.=-P['''/.

I DL'ed this and was not that impressed with the show. 1st set is pretty good. They fumble all through the 1st half of the 2nd set. The crowd is very up for it, to say the least. Hartford, Santa Fe, Merriweather, Saratoga, Red Rocks and Boise later in the year all take this show to the woodshed. A somewhat average show seen by an intensely rabid crowd.

This show, and the next night in Burlington, are perhaps the best back-to-back ever. The energy was amazing, the band was really on, and both were 'dripping with factor'. I was maybe 20 feet from Garcia, and he was annoyed with himself for blowing the first line of Help (He sang Help on the way instead of Paradise Waits), so, to make up for it, his first note of Slipnot! was so thunderously loud, I thought the roof of the Arena had been blown off. The place shook like an earthquake. Later, Lesh drops bombs during Terrapin that knocked the wind from my lungs. Amazing

My favorite year!! Broome County? We headed for the show from Mt. Snow VT. with no idea where Broome County was. What a surprise. Nice small venue. GREAT sound at this show. Very loud! I've heard great recordings of this show, and this one is no different. Nice crisp recording, just like the show itself. Very inthusiastic Wharf Rat. A nice prelude to what turned out to be the best year of shows for me. Thanks archive.org.
